I have now seen two sources (only two, though) that contradict the idea that just because Palin didn't run away crying or faint, that she won the debate. Um.... no. She is not informed just because she didn't completely mess up. Not being an idiot does not make one smart.
An article by Ru Freeman combats many pundits' opinions that she appeared intelligent and informed on the issued. No. She talked about what she already knew: Alaska. She avoided the new and she rattled off numbers that the campaign had given her all week. She admitted her ignorance on many topics -- probably not a good idea -- and stuck to what she knew (stressing her role as mother and Washington outsider, and commenting on her experience in Alaska).
Jon Stewart also commented on this fallacy, saying that everyone expected her to faint and cry "I'm frightened!" but because she did not, it must mean she won.
